Midsouthern Restorations

1977 Chevy Truck

This full restoration on the 1977 Chevrolet pick up came from Tracy City Tennessee. The truck was bought new by the current owner’s father. This is a stock restoration keeping everything has close to original has possible. A few body parts were in need of replacement and all effort is applied to search out original GM parts even if they are used to avoid the Asian poor quality replacement parts. The cab was turned many times to remove any rust or metal rot. The frame was sandblasted and all new springs were ordered. The original rear springs were modified when extra non- matching leafs were added. The motor is being rebuilt and the transmission was resealed. The frame has been bent from a previous accident and is now straightened. These projects turn ugly when you first do a tear down but after some cleaning and rebuilding the vehicle comes back to life has new.

The all stock 1977 Chevrolet truck is shaping up now. The body was in bad shape and original rust free doors were found. The bed was disassembled and had a replacement floor re-installed from a donor truck. Power steering and brakes were added and having a parts truck available was handy for all the hard to find correct brackets and pulleys. The cab is now painted inside and is now assembled to be painted out. The original small block and three speed was retained and rebuilt and is back in a rebuilt chassis. It will be a new 77 Chevy truck shortly.

The C-10 Chevy went home with the owner all smiles. The goal was met by giving him the new truck back his dad bought 36 years before to the month. Dual exhaust was added and a sweet sounding set of mufflers makes the original 305 sound great.
