1967 Mustang Fastback
father and sons projects never seem to get done so a surgeon from Cookeville, Tennessee brought his '67 Mustang fastback to Mid-Southern for some resto-modifications and to be completed. Many new parts were already purchased, and the motor had been rebuilt. The car was a basket case and when it arrived; what was put together was disassembled. The motor was taken apart even though rebuilt because it had sat for some years, and rust had accumulated on internal parts. The parts were sorted out, and a game plan went into place. A four-speed backed up the High Performance 390. The rear received posi-trac with a high gear and Shelby Traction Bars. All four corners received disc brakes. The interior is custom with power windows, racing seats, roll bar, and front and rear sub-frames tied together for strength and rigidity. The '67 Shelby body panels were fitted to the old fast-back body after new metal sections were in place to repair body damage. To top off the Shelby look, a Shaker Hood scoop from a 70 Cobra Jet was installed. The end result is a beautiful aggressive-looking '67 Mustang mix of performance, speed, safety, and comfort. Now both father and son spend a few weekends together at car shows and Mustang meets. This car will be at the 45th Mustang Anniversary in 2009. These pictures were taken off negatives from a 35mm camera.
