Midsouthern Restorations

1947 Lincoln Continental V-12 Two Door Sedan

The Lincoln V-12 comes from a large private collection in Gallatin, Tennessee. This car needed a mechanical restoration. The front suspension was gone through and everything was checked. The king pins, brakes, and tie rod ends were change. The transmission needed to be rebuilt, and the head gaskets on the motor needed to be changed. The rear differential was full of rust, as can be seen. One axle shaft was damaged, and one outer wheel bearing race was damaged. A different rear end was located and brought to the shop. Here, we tore it down and installed new bearings. The rear brakes were gone through. The electrical harness is being changed out as well as interior carpet and door panels. All external parts on the motor were rebuilt and our remanufactured carburetors are second to none. The trunk was in the closed position for many years and we had to send the “Trunk Monkey” through the back seat to unlatch it. The trunk weather strip was glued down, and it had to be pried open. With all the big items now repaired, it will start going back together and will hit the road again shortly.

This project is now complete and big Lincoln runs out perfect. The overdrive system in this car is electric and functioned properly. The v-12 is one of the smoothest running motors you will see.
